Some home pages set a HTML attribute (autocomplete) to tell the browser to don’t save user name and password.
But that’s really annoying in some cases.
If you want to disable this:
- Create a bookmark with the following javascript (a “triple” click selects the line completely):
javascript:(function(){var%20all%20=%20document.getElementsByTagName('*');for%20(var%20i%20=%20-1,%20l%20=%20all.length;%20++i%20<%20l;)%20{if%20(all[i].hasAttribute("autocomplete"))%20all[i].autocomplete%20=%20"on";%20}})();
- Go to the homepage where you want to save the password and click the bookmark.
- Enter your user name and your password (hopefully for this last time) and login
- A save password dialog shows up like on every “normal” login page – feel free to save your password.
I tested it for Firefox 19 and Firefox Mobile and it’s working for both.

For the curious ones a brief description what this script does: It looks up where the autocomplete was set to “off” and sets it to “on”. But you can also see the long version here (which won’t work as a bookmarklet):
javascript:(
function(){
var all = document.getElementsByTagName('*');
for (var i = -1, l = all.length; ++i < l;) {
if (all[i].hasAttribute("autocomplete")) all[i].autocomplete = "on";
}
}
)();
